Belleville, IL (KSDK) - The chief of police for the Village of New Athens, Illinois has been charged with theft and misconduct.
Dallas Hill, 27, was charged Monday with two counts of official misconduct and one count of theft over $500. In a little over one year, the State's Attorney has charged nine law enforcement personnel with official misconduct.
Court documents state Hill removed an iPad and iPod held as evidence in a pending investigation from the evidence vault for personal use.
Hill is out on a $20,000 bond.
The charges are each class three felonies and are punishable by up to five years in prison if convicted.
