St. Louis (KSDK) - A teen accused of a carjacking was shot by police Monday night.

Police say the suspect was shot in the foot near the intersection of Vivian and Astra in north St. Louis around 8:50 p.m.

That 15 year old teen and two 16 year old teens are all in police custody awaiting a decision on whether they will be turned over to juvenile authorities.

Police say they responded to a BP gas station/convenience store in the 1100 block of Riverview Boulevard after a 17 year old Cahokia woman and her 21 year old boyfriend from Barnhart were carjacked on the lot of the business.

Officers with the Rapid Deployment Unit of the St. Louis Police Department located the stolen car in the area of Eaton and Riverview moments later and tried to stop the vehicle.

The driver finally stopped the car at Vivian and Astra, with the driver bolting from police on foot.  He was quickly captured and taken into custody.

The 15 year old teen was a passenger who also ran, then stopped and pointed a gun at police who opened fire and struck the suspect in the foot.  That teen was also arrested.

A second passenger in the carjacked vehicle remained in the stolen car and surrendered to police without incident.

The two victims of the carjacking were not hurt in the crime, and there names have not been disclosed.

Charges are expected later today.  The name of the officer involved has not been released, but as is protocol with the department, the officer will be assigned to Administrative Duty while the investigation continues.
