St. Louis (KSDK) - With the second morning rush hour completed, MoDOT says that traffic on the Blanchette Bridge increased a little today, but continued to move well.
Some motorists appeared to return to I-70 for the morning commute, causing a slight increase in volume, but many have stuck to their alternate routes including Route 364 and I-64.
"The morning commute went well again today. Motorists seemed to shift around on the routes and make some adjustments to their commute times today. This is what it will take to keep traffic moving during this project," said MoDOT St. Louis District Engineer Ed Hassinger.
The worst time to travel and traffic volumes in the a.m. rush before and after the lane reduction on I-70 on the four Missouri River Crossings are as follows:
Route Before I-70 Bridge Closure Nov 6 AM Peak
I-70 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. / 5,356 vehicles 7:00-8:00 a.m. / 5,533 vehicles
