NEW YORK (AP) - New York City officials are warning vulnerable residents about evacuating in the face of possible flooding from another East Coast storm.

Weather experts say the nor'easter expected to hit the region starting later Wednesday could be weaker than initially anticipated.

But it will still carry wind gusts that could bring down tree limbs weakened by Sandy and storm surge that could cause minor flooding and erode beaches that have already lost dunes.

Police are using loudspeakers to urge residents in low-lying areas to evacuate. The city was also closing parks, playgrounds and beaches and ordering construction sites to be secured.

But some residents are choosing to stick close to the belongings they have left.
