ST. LOUIS (KSDK) -- The St. Louis Police Board of Commissioners met Wednesday on one of their most pressing issues: Hiring a new police chief.

There are currently 13 candidates being considered. Their names will be announced to the public on Friday.

Despite Proposition A passing, this is still a state decision. The five members of the board will vote on the new chief. Under state law, the candidates are required to come from within the department.

The board is looking for input from the public.

Wednesday night, they'll host a town hall at Harris-Stowe State University at 6:30 p.m.
