St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Despite delays on I-70 as a result of the Blanchette Bridge renovations, morning rush hour traffic continues to move well in the area, the Missouri Department of Transportation said Wednesday.
According to Linda Wilson Horn, a MoDOT spokeswoman, traffic during the 5 a.m. - 9 a.m. rush period on eastbound I-70 slightly increased, but has remained stable even after the closure of two lanes.
MOdot encourages motorists to continue using alternative Routes 370 and 364 to avoid future delays, but note signal timing adjustments on Route 94 at Page and Scheutz.
Before the I-70 bridge closure, peak traffic volumes were between 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. on eastbound I-70 and I-64, and 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. on eastbound rotes 370 and 364.
After lane reduction, the worst time to travel is between 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. on eastbound I-70, Route 370 and Route 36, and between 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. on eastbound I-64,
Along with I-70 lane closures, the ramp from northbound Fifth Street to eastbound I-70 remains closed until fall 2013. For more information on the project, visit www.modot.org/blanchettebridge.
