St. Clair, MO (KSDK) - School officials in St. Clair, Missouri are holding an emergency forum Tuesday night to discuss recent student suicides in the district.
Three students have killed themselves in the past seven weeks. The third student suicide happened Monday night about 8 p.m. The two prior to that happened within the past two weeks.
The 6:00 p.m. meeting Tuesday is at St. Clair High School, in the cafeteria.
School officials say the students who killed themselves are a male junior, a female sophomore, and a female freshman.
The emergency meeting was already planned prior to the third suicide, Monday. Superintendent Dr. Michael Murphy said suicide prevention experts and additional counselors and clergy are on hand in St. Clair schools Tuesday.
Dr. Murphy said school officials are concerned about students who are vulnerable and considering copycat incidents. School officials have searched for parallels and identification circles among the three students and say they are not finding any.
