St. Charles, Mo (KSDK) - The St. Charles Fire Department expanded its salute to breast cancer and prostate cancer awareness months.

Donations helped the department buy two ladder boards that will be mounted on fire trucks in 2013.  The blue boards are for prostate cancer awareness month in September 2013 and the pink boards are for breast cancer awareness month in October 2013.

A set of boards will be available for cancer survivors and patients to sign at the City of St. Charles Fire Station 3 located at 2817 Elm Street between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. all year round.  Anyone who would like to make an appointment to sign the placards can email cancerawareness@stcharlescitymo.gov.

Beginning December 10, another pair will be rotated between the SSM Cancer Center Kisker Road Facility and the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes Jewish St. Peters Hospital. Residents interested in signing the ladder sign boards should speak with staff at these facilities regarding our program and the scheduled display times.
