Lincoln County, MO (KSDK) - Charges have been filed against a man accused of killing a child while driving intoxicated.

Troy resident 32-year-old Randolph Scott James has been charged with fist-degree involuntary manslaughter, three counts of second-degree assault/operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and one count of operating a vehicle carelessly and imprudently.

Nine-year-old David Simpson of Winfield was a passenger in that car and was airlifted to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis where he died just before 11 a.m

The Missouri Highway Patrol says David's mother, 29-year-old Angela Simpson was driving the car that was struck. His father, 32-year-old David, and 8-year-old sister, Dana, were also in the vehicle and taken to area hospitals for treatment to moderate injuries.

James was also hurt and taken to a hospital.

David Simpson's wake is on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. His funeral is on Thursday at 11 a.m. both at Carter Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
