St. Louis County (KSDK) - The Mehlville School District voted Thursday night to allow families to send their children to kindergarten tuition-free.

The school board voted 7-0 to approve the proposal, which will begin in August 2013.

Previously, tuition was $2,200.

The district is able to offer tuition-free kindergarten due to state funding.

The Mehlville School District was one of only four school districts in Missouri to have tuition-based kindergarten.
