Raymond, MS (WAPT/CNN) - The men in the video above are sampling the organic cane syrup that they made.
They are inmates at the Hinds County Penal Farm in Raymond, Mississippi and they sell the sweet goods under the name, "Serving Time."
The prisoners have always planted vegetables, which they eat and also market, but it's the syrup that's a shining star.
"It's 200 percent difference. You got so many additives in the commercial blend that you buy off the shelf. When this comes out and goes in them jars, it's pure cane syrup," said Lt. Dan Smith with the Hinds County Sheriff's Department.
All the profits go back into the farm to buy seeds and herbicides.
