St. Louis (KSDK) -- Many of you have been to estate sales, or have hired a company to handle an estate sale.
Chris Thetford of the Better Business Bureau joined NewsChannel 5's Kelly Jackson to talk about a local company he said has a bad record.
Tips for hiring an estate firm to sell your personal items:
-Make sure you have a signed contract outlining exactly how the sale will be run (percentage you'll get, hours of sale, how will it be advertised, what kind of security will be in place..etc)
-Ask for references and contact those references
-Make sure seller carries insurance
-If you can, attend the sale yourself
