Cardinals select Cerda and Voss in Rule V pick up

(KSDK Sports)  - The St. Louis Cardinals selected infielder Matt Cerda, infielder, from the Chicago Cubs in the Triple-A portion of the Rule V Draft.   Later, in the second round selected Jay Voss, left-handed pitcher, from the Detroit Tigers also in the Triple-A portion of the Rule 5 Draft.

Voss, a native of Breese, Illinois is 25.  He was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 8th round of the 2007 MLB June Amateur Draft from Kaskaskia College in Arcola, IL.

Cerda is a 22 year old out of Oceanside, California.  He was by the Chicago Cubs in the 4th round of the 2008 MLB June Amateur Draft.

Also catcher Steven Hill was selected off the Cardinals roster by the Oakland A's.  Hill, a 13th round pick of the 2007 First Year Player Draft made his Cardinal debut in 2010 for a quick visit.  He returned in 2012 in two stints, and remained with the club down the stretch in the season's final weeks.   A Triple A Memphis this season, Hill batted 266 with 17 home runs and 52 RBI.
