ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Water levels are historically low on the Mississippi River, and the level is still dropping.

Without a change, barge traffic may have to come to a halt by the end of the year. The standstill would end up costing shippers a lot of money, and some of the cost would likely fall on consumers.

NewsChannel 5's Sharon Stevens spoke to several experts and farmers, and local lawmakers say they are seeking help from the White House.
