St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A 22-year-old Jefferson County man was sentenced to four years in prison for his role in a fatal hit and run accident on Interstate 70 in April 2012.
The accident happened Monday, April 16 around 9:15 p.m. on eastbound I-70 at O'Fallon. Tow truck driver David Bense had stopped on the side of the highway to assist a motorist. He was placing cones and flares around the disabled vehicle when he was struck and killed by Aaron Bogue.
Bogue continued to drive on eastbound I-70, but was taken into custody a short time later at 11th Street and Salisbury. Another driver chased Bogue's vehicle and called police.
Aaron Bogue, who had a history of drug-related convictions, pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident in October. There was not enough evidence to determine if Bogue was impaired while driving.
Prior to sentencing Friday, Bogue told the judge that his own father was killed by a drunk driver in September 1996. The judge still administered the maximum sentence on Bogue.
