LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - A 71-year-old man was found dead in his mobile home near Foley, Missouri.
Barry Nuss, Fire Marshal and Public Information Officer for the Lincoln County Fire Protection District #1 says they responded to a call around 9 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of Blackmore Road.
When firefighters arrived they found Robert H. Voorheis, Sr. deceased inside his home.
A family member said they were unable to reach Voorheis by phone, so they went to his home and found him on the floor near a bed that had been burned in a fire. The inside of the home had moderate to heavy smoke damage throughout the home.
The fire had been self-extinguished several hours before the 911 call and arrival of firefighters.
The cause is believed to be accidental and smoking related. There were no working smoke alarms inside the home.
The official cause of death will be determined by the Lincoln County Coroner, but smoke inhalation is believed to be primary factory.
No foul play is suspect.
