ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Flu season seems to be picking up in St. Louis. The Department of Health for the City of St. Louis released its latest case count Friday.
So far, there have been 516 flu cases since October 1, 2012.
The count is up more than 100 in just the past week.
The Centers for Disease Control says flu season is off to its earliest start in nearly a decade, and the primary strain circulating tends to cause more severe illness, especially in the elderly.
The good news is the flu vaccine is proving to be well matched for this year's strains so far.
