FRANKLIN COUNTY (KSDK) - Eastbound I-44 has reopened following an early morning crash that claimed the life of Diaae Saker.
Three vehicles collided on eastbound Interstate 44 around 5 o'clock Saturday morning leaving one person dead and three others injured. The accident happened on I-44 just east of mile marker 248 in Franklin County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, 25-year-old Diaae Saker, of Kenner, Louisiana, lost control of his tractor trailer and ran off the left side of the road. At this point he over-corrected and the tractor trailer rolled over.
Saker was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his tractor trailer, 52-year-old Felix Smith, suffered minor injuries. He was a resident of Pasadena, California. A Chevy Trailblazer driven by Billy Wells, 42, or Rolla, Missouri slid into the tractor trailer and suffered minor injuries. Another vehicle driven by Roxanne Rath, 25, or Sullivan, Missouri also slid into the tractor trailer. She has moderate injuries.
All drivers were wearing their seat belts, but are unsure if Smith was. The three people injured were transported to Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri.
