FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KSDK) - A federal grand jury indicted the assistant police chief in Centreville, Illinois for allegedly selling a firearm to a convicted felon, US Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois Stephen Wigginton said Wednesday.
Corey Allen, 31, was indicted December 11 for making false statements to federal investigators.
Prosecutors allege federal investigators questioned Corey Allen on November 30 about whether he supplied a handgun to a convicted criminal. According to court documents, Allen lied and said he'd never even seen the gun prior to October 11. Investigators say Allen sold the gun to the felon on May 3 for $100.
If convicted, Corey Allen faces up to five years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release.
