ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - The Missouri Department of Transportation announced Thursday one lane of Interstate 70 will be closed on the Blanchette Bridge Saturday morning.
Crews will close the right westbound lane to perform maintenance work. When work on the westbound lane is done they will reopen the lane and close the right eastbound lane.
The closures will take place from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.
On Monday, December 17, a detour will be implemented for drivers on S. Main Street underneath the Blanchette Bridge so crews can remove the old bridge deck.
Drivers are urged to slow down, and speeds will be reduced through the bypass, which is located adjacent to S. Main Street.
This bypass will be used off and on during the next several weeks when crews need to work on the bridge.
MoDOT also says there will be a day or two when both S. Main Street and the bypass will be closed. At those times drivers will be detoured with message boards through Fifth Street.
Users of the KATY Trail should look for flaggers under the bridge, and there will be intermittent intervals of 15 minutes when Trail traffic will be stopped to allow crews to remove pieces of the bridge.
The Trail is open, but users should allow for potential 15 minute delays during the next few weeks.
