ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A business manager of a local medical practice was sentenced Friday on mail and wire fraud charges.
Dunard Morris, 49, was sentenced to 78 months in prison for embezzlement of millions of dollars from Metropolitan Urological Specialists. He was also ordered to pay $5.6 million in restitution.
Court documents state Morris was the business manager of the practice from 2006 until last September and repeatedly increase his base salary without authorization or disclosure to shareholders. He was paid by the practice money in unauthorized, undisclosed bonuses and reimbursements.
Morris also used company money to purchase high-end jewelry, luxury cars, firearms, designer clothing, wine, travel, and other items.
He also had told doctors he was a decorated U.S. Marine and a winner of the Navy Cross for heroism, when he had never received the award and was discharged from the military for misconduct.
Morris pleaded guilty to three counts of mail and wire fraud in September.
