ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Details have been released about a suspect who burglarized two homes over the weekend and sexually assaulted the occupants of the homes.

Lt. John Harper with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department says the first burglary happened December 14 at 12:30 a.m. in the 4000 block of Walsh Street.

Harper says the suspect was confronted by an adult female as he was burglarizing the home and sexually assaulted her.

The second incident occurred December 15 at 1 a.m. in the 3900 block of Delor.

The suspect was burglarizing the home when a girl under the age of 18 confronted the suspect. Harper says the suspect then sexually assaulted the girl.

In both incidents the suspect entered the homes through an unlocked back door.

Authorities believe the same man committed both crimes, as the details surrounding his description are the same.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens or early 20s. He has a medium build and was wearing dark-colored clothing. He has short, dark hair and may have facial hair. He was armed with a knife during both burglaries, but did not use it to harm either female.

Police have implemented extra patrols in the area.
