DETROIT (WDIV/CNN) - A Detroit middle school student is in trouble after allegedly bringing a loaded gun to school.
It happened at Marquette Elementary-Middle School on the city's east side.
Detroit Public Schools officials say the 13-year-old had a .38 caliber handgun on him Monday.
Police say it set-off the metal detectors when he tried to get into school with it, and school security quickly confiscated the weapon.
The boy was taken to a youth detention facility.
School officials say they think the boy brought the gun to school to scare off students who threatened him.
