North St. Louis, MO (KSDK) -- Significant damage to the inside of a North St. Louis residence after a fire broke out on the first floor.
Firefighters were called to the home in the 4700 block of McMillan around 12:30 Saturday afternoon and found the two-story brick home with thick smoke and fire.
Officials say this was a home where two seperate families lived, but everybody was already out of the house by the time firefighters arrived.
Firefighters were able to keep it contained and no one was injured in the fire. Only one unit of the building was damaged.
The Red Cross is assisting two adults who lived on the first floor of the building. At this time there is no known cause for the fire which left the structure and contents inside heavily damaged.
Fire officials are still working to determine the cause of the fire and NewsChannel 5 will have more information when it becomes available.
