ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KSDK) - A 39-year-old local man died over the weekend after being arrested for a robbery.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident began around midnight on December 22 in the 3400 block of Kingshighway. Officers observed a man who matched the description of a robbery suspect.
When police approached, the man, identified as Kerwin Harris, fled the scene on foot. Officers caught the man a short time later, but he began fighting with police. Authorities said they had to subdue the man using a taser.
Once taken into custody, Kerwin Harris was found to be unresponsive and transported to a local hospital where he was then pronounced dead.
The cause of death remains unknown.
