Five people -- including 4 kids under the age of 8 -- were killed in a house fire early Wednesday in Oklahoma City.
There were conflicting reports initially on the ages of the victims, but the Associated Press quotes Fire Major Tammy McKinney as saying the dead include four children -- ages 2 to 8 -- and one adult.
One other adult was hospitalized in critical condition, McKinney said.
Battalion Chief Randy Cornelius said the interior of the home about a mile east of Lake Hefner in northwest Oklahoma City appeared completely "gutted" by the fire, the Associated Press reported.
NewsOK quoted a neighbor, Toni Wyatt, as saying she rushed over to the fire after smelling smoke and hearing three loud pops at 6:30 a.m. CT.
"I heard a guy yelling, 'Help! Help!' I went over to see what was going on and helped pull the guy out of the house," Wyatt told NewsOK.
