PAGEDALE, Mo. (KSDK) - Fire broke out on the property of N&J Railroad Contractors, shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Mid-County fire officials say the blaze at the facility located on St. Charles Rock Road, quickly went to three alarms. The fire destroyed a large, metal storage building behind the offices.

No one was injured.

Mid-County Fire Chief Sean Mahoney says three employees noticed nothing until police arrived. Several area departments assisted.

Firefighters had to deal with flammable liquids inside the building.

"They were exploding as we arrived. There was heavy, black smoke visible. They didn't specifically give us any details but with black smoke I'm sure it was a lot of gasoline, diesel; couple acetylene torches," said Chief Mahoney.

He said company officials made firefighters aware of that hazard upon their arrival.

Investigators have not determined a cause for the fire, but say it is not suspicious in nature.
