Saint Louis Zoo sets attendance record in 2012

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The Saint Louis Zoo has set an all-time record for attendance.

As of Monday, the zoo has welcomed 3,492,120 visitors in 2012, up from 3,019,597 visitors in 2011.

The previous record was set in 2009 at 3,101,830 visitors.

To thank visitors, the Emerson Children's Zoo will be free to all visitors on Saturday, Dec. 29 and Sunday, Dec. 30. Special activities are planned, including crafts, keeper chats, and contact with animals.

The zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Wild Lights is open nightly through Sunday from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Admission for Wild Lights is $4 for zoo members, and $5 for the general public.
