ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - A man has been taken into custody, accused of killing his girlfriend in front of the woman's child.
St. Louis County police say a woman was stabbed to death Wednesday around 3 p.m. at her home in the Rolling Hills Apartments in the 8800 block of Maya Lane in Jennings, Missouri.
Neighbors tell NewsChannel 5 police officers showed up with guns drawn because the suspect was still in the upstairs apartment where the murder happened.
Crystal Harig says detectives eventually went door to door to tell residents what had happened. That's when she saw officers carrying a small child who lived in the apartment out of the building.
"Knowing that a child now is not going to have his or her parents around, you know mom passed, it just seems like a shame," said Harig. "Unfortunately this happened and I know that child's going to have a difficult life and it's tragic."
The suspect's and victim's names have not been released.
