St. Louis (KSDK) - On January 1, 2013 Missouri's minimum wage will increase by 10 cents to $7.35.
This increase will benefit an estimated 79,000 low-wage workers in the state, and will mean an extra $190 per year in wages for the average worker affected.
A proposal to raise Missouri's minimum wage to $8.50 per hour nearly reached the November ballot this past year, but was narrowly blocked.
Missouri is joined by nine other states that will raise the state minimum wage on New Year's Day. Those states include Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Montana, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.
