EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) - Police in the Metro East are investigating the possibility that an 18-month-old girl died from drinking bleach.
East St. Louis Police say the little girl's aunt called 911 on Christmas Eve and said the child was vomiting after ingesting bleach.
The child was taken to Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center where she later died.
St. Clair County Child Death Task Force investigators are now waiting for lab results and an autopsy to determine how the child died and whether or not she did in fact drink any bleach.
Police say the child's family is cooperating and the investigation continues. No charges have been filed.
