MOUNT VERNON, IL (KSDK) -- Work continues this morning in efforts to get a train back on the track, and on it's way after a Sunday morning incident involving eight cars on the locomotive.

Police responded to the derailment around early Sunday morning and found all eight of the cars involved upright, but off the actual rail.

The derailed cars went off the track near Liberty Road and Rackaway.  Mount Vernon firefighters say one of the eight cars was releasing ethanol which caused concern. Firefighters say the ethanol leak has been stopped.  The fire department is still on the scene with a special Hazmat team cleaning everything up.

Nobody was evacuated and no injuries were reported.
