FLORISSANT, Mo. (KSDK) - Funeral services will be held Friday evening for R&B legend Fontella Bass.

The University City native is best known for her 1965 hit "Rescue Me."

Fontella Bass died December 27 from complications following a heart attack. She was 72.

Bass will be remembered during a public memorial at Shalom Church City of Peace in Florissant. The memorial service starts at 7 p.m. and will be emceed by our Kelly Jackson.
