(WDSU) - The reward for information leading to the capture of a woman who was serving a 25-year prison sentence on a manslaughter charge and escaped Tuesday has been increased.
Authorities continue to search for 33-year-old Keana Barnes. She escaped the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women in St. Gabriel about 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Combined with the reward money from the Department of Corrections and Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans, the reward for information on Barnes' whereabouts is now at $5,000.
Barnes is from New Orleans and authorities said she has friends and family in the area, and is likely getting assistance in evading capture.
Barnes is described as standing 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds and has dark brown eyes and very short brown hair. She also has the letter K tattooed on her left hand, a dragon tattoo on her back and two panther tattoos on her chest.
