ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - A local village leader is a wanted woman.
Beverly Hills officers are searching for a Velda Village Hills chairwoman who is charged with five felonies in St. Louis County.
Velda Village Hills is located in north St. Louis Cuonty, south of Interstate 70.
The Beverly Hills police chief was tipped off about the crimes, and exactly one month to the day later, officers have warrants in hand.
For the second time Friday, three officers pulled up to the home belonging to the mother of 37-year-old Ruthesia Willis.
Willis holds the position of chairwoman in the Village of Velda Hills. It's the highest position, similar to a mayor.
Police were at her home to arrest her on five counts of felony forgery, but she was not home.
Investigators say she gifted three homes given to the village by the county to her two aunts.
Then, another home as well as a business were given to two other people who may be her friends.
After that, officers say Willis spent $15,000 of village funds for a tree service to clear the land at those homes as well as her own.
Willis is the only one with charges against her in this case. Prosecutors do not believe her family had any knowledge of the nature of those gifts.
She is urged to turn herself in.
