Curryville, MO (KSDK) - A two vehicle crash in Pike County Sunday afternoon has left two people dead.
Missouri Highway Patrol troopers tell NewsChannel 5 around 2:15 p.m. yesterday, an eastbound tractor trailer truck was trying to avoid colliding with an unknown vehicle, when the driver of the 18-wheeler crossed the centerline of U.S. Highway 54 at Route U .
A westbound SUV tried avoiding the oncoming rig by driving off the right side of the highway, but was struck by the truck.
Two people in the SUV, the driver, 67 year old William Stafford, and his 62 year old wife Nancy Stafford of Laddonia were both pronounced dead at the crash scene.
The driver of the over the road truck was identified as 32 year old Ibrahim Bourakba of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was injured and airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.
