VELDA CITY, Mo. (KSDK) - A man is on the run after a stabbing and standoff in Velda City, Missouri.
Velda City police say the man was released from prison one year ago. They have not released his name yet, but say he stabbed a man at a home in the 7100 block of Edison Avenue around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
When police arrived they saw the suspect go inside the home, so the treated the scene like a standoff situation. They sued a robot and K-9 to search the home, but by 11:30 p.m. they realized the suspect had left the home through the back of the house and was not barricaded inside.
The victim is listed in critical condition.
The suspect's name is expected to be released Thursday morning.
