ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The VNA-TIP HealthCare is holding several public flu shot clinics in the community, and is offering shots at 30+ branches in Missouri and Illinois.
Flu shots through VNA-TIP are $25 and are available Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary to receive a flu shot at a branch.
For people 65-years-old and older, a high-dose flu shot is recommended and costs $65. This type of shot contains four times the amount of antigen than a regular flu shot, which helps the body make antibodies.
The elderly are recommended to receive the high-dose shot because they generally have lower immunity. Pneumonia shots are also available for $75 for this age group.
For people ages 18 thru 64, an intradermal flu shot is available, which uses a 90 percent smaller needle that punctures only the skin and doesn't go into the muscle. These shots are $30.
