VERMILION, Ohio (WKYC) - A Vermilion couple and a grandmother face serious charges in connection with the starvation death of a toddler.
Adrienne Bartholomew and her husband James Brothers face multiple counts of involuntary manslaughter and child endangering.
The couple's 18-month-old son Isaac was found dead in his crib Nov. 6.
An autopsy reveals he died of malnutrition. Isaac weighed a fraction of what a normal child his age should.
Deborah Nelson is facing similar charges plus failure to report child abuse. She is not only the baby's grandmother but also being paid by the State of Ohio to be his nurse.
All three are behind bars in the Sandusky County jail. And they are scheduled for arraignment later this week.
Four other children in the home were also underfed. Investigators say two are still hospitalized while the other two are in foster care.
