PINE LAWN, Mo. (KSDK) -- A DWI detail turned into a police chase and drug bust when Pine Lawn Police pursued a speeding vehicle just after midnight on Saturday.
Steven Lamont Terry, 29, sped westbound on highway 70 when Pine Lawn police began pursuit. During the chase, the suspect tossed a semi-automatic handgun and a bag of drugs from the driver side window of his car. The bag contained what police believe to be marijuana, crack and some ecstasy pills, as well as several other unidentified prescription pills.
The suspect pulled over just past West Florissant and was taken into custody. Police charged the suspect with DWI, unlawful possession of controlled substances.
Terry already had a felony probation violation from the state as well as twenty municipal bench warrants. He is being held in Pine Lawn Jail with a $25,000 bond related to the DWI and unlawful possession of a firearm. Terry will be transferred to St. Louis County Saturday afternoon.
