UNION, Mo. (KSDK) -- Franklin County Sheriff's search for a suspect wanted for two assaults in Sullivan lead them to an active meth lab.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office was investigating an assault in the 200 block of Highway 185 outside Sullivan.

Police say a white male, age 30, was accused of assaulting his girlfriend and the female was taken to the hospital for her injuries. Deputies responded to the same residence Friday morning for another assault call and the man fled on foot once again.

A deputy chased the man on foot to a Good Year Tire building where law enforcement took the man into custody.  The Franklin County Sheriff's helicopter was assisting with the search and followed an ATV.

Officers searching on the ground followed the second man which lead officers to an active meth lab.  The subject was taken into custody on drug charges.  Deputies are still searching for his accomplice who is at large.
