DUPO, Ill. (KSDK) - Many residents in the Metro East community of Dupo found themselves without electricity overnight.  However, all power is now reported as being back on line.

Efforts to reach Ameren Illinois for information on exactly what caused the loss of power were unsuccessful, however Dupo Police told NewsChannel 5 they received calls overnight about hearing an electric transformer exploding.

That was the apparent cause for the outage which affected more than 1,500 of Dupo's 2,300 residents.

No immediate information was available on where the transformer was located or an exact time of the electricity went off.

Stay tuned to NewsChannel 5 and ksdk.com for more details as they come available.
