ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Police say a 49-year-old woman was found dead inside a home where there was an early morning fire. The home is located in the 4000 block of Giles Avenue in the Dutchtown neighborhood of south St. Louis.
It's not know the fire killed the woman or if she died from another cause. Police will only say the fire is suspicious in nature.
The call came out around 12:30 a.m. for smoke inside a house. When firefighters arrived they discovered the woman in a front room of the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the woman's roommate came home from work and saw the smoke. The roommate could not get inside because the smoke was too think. The roommate ran to a neighbor's to call 911.
The homicide unit, bomb and arson unit, and the fire investigation unit are all investigating.
