St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Those that knew him only on the field - his fans - are also mourning the loss.

Just outside Busch Stadium at the base of the Stan Musial statue is the place to be if you are a fan of Stan the Man. There are a lot of physical memories out there, but it's the stories about the hall of famer that people hold dear.

Hundreds of fans stopped by the stadium to say goodbye over the weekend, including one daddy daughter duo that have something in common with the Hall of Famer.

At the third base entrance, where Stan stands tall his fans bow their heads and remember his life, his baseball career and his good nature.

"More than a baseball player, he taught you about being a good person, just to treat everybody the same," says Craig Ball, longtime Cardinals fan.

For a lot of fans this was the place to be Sunday, just outside Busch, including the Ball family, daddy Craig and daughter Alivia.
The five year old fan happens to have something in common with Stan the Man November 21st - her birthday and his.

"I wish I could take some sort of credit for that, no I think that's just an automatic because we are huge baseball fans and those numbers you can't play with those, they just happen for a reason," he says.

Alivia has already been to 30 games says her proud father, who says being a Cards fan is in his blood and now his daughter's.

"To share this with her is kind of special, so she wanted to pick out 6 roses," he says.

Stan the Man means a lot to the Ball family, so much that his legacy will live on in their family pet a mut named Stanley.

Ball says Cardinal Nation lost a hero this weekend, but the Hall of Famer's life will live on at the ballpark.

"People walk through those gates and they leave their troubles behind and you go in there and it's a special place," he says.

Craig explains it's a special place because of people like Stan Musial.
