ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Out of the chaos of last week's shooting at Stevens Institute of Business and Arts, we're hearing a story of bravery.
John Willmon, the school's director of admissions, is being credited with helping save the life of his co-worker, Greg Elsenrath.
Willmon was in his office when he heard gunshots and the news Elsenrath had been shot. The 30 year veteran of the Navy rushed to meet Elsenrath then used paper towels to put pressure on the wound and help stop the bleeding.
Despite his actions, Willmon says he's not a hero.
"Any number of folks here would have done it," said Willmon. "It just so happened I was there first."
Willmon says the true heroes are the police and EMTs who helped secure the school and took Elsenrath to the hospital. He added school leaders are now working to increase campus security.
