St. Louis (KSDK) - A major road project will get underway later this week on Interstate 64 and that means more closures and detours.
In order to tear down two over-passes, MODOT is shutting down I-64 from Kingshighway to Forest Park Parkway.
The plan is to have the interstate back open by the end of the weekend, but this is just the beginning of an $18 million project that will run into June of 2014.
The stretch of I-64 will temporarily have narrow lanes, lane closures and even some more weekend shutdowns, near downtown, in both directions.
MODOT'S advice, as it has been before, is to use Interstates 44 and 70 to get in and out of downtown over the next several months.
