WEA, Kan. (KCTV/CNN) - A Kansas couple celebrates a rare anniversary, 70 years of wedded bliss.
This is what 70 years of marriage looks like, but it's what you hear that never wrinkles with age.
Billie and Gene Trageser met the old fashioned way, a day that still brings a smile to gene's face.
"Oh, short story," said Gene.
And a pretty simple short story at that.
"I went to a dance over there between Main and Broadway," said Gene.
"I saw him and immediately fell in love with him and he took me home," said Billie.
The couple's 10 kids say Billie and Gene refuse to do anything without each other. A bond that outlasted the parting words of their priest who married them.
"The priest wouldn't approve. Maybe it was the wrong the clothes, I don't know but he said it wouldn't last," said Billie.
Oh but it did. Seventy years, 10 children and 110 grandchildren later.
"I really love him," said Billie.
"She's the greatest," said Gene.
Billie is wearing a replica of her wedding dress, toasting to their lifelong marriage and Gene's 90th birthday.
