ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Police are investigating after a man was found in downtown St. Louis after being shot near the Arch grounds.
Authorities said the 22-year-old victim was shot around 8:50 p.m. Monday in the 700 of S. Leonor K. Sullivan Boulevard. Police were called to a local hospital in the 1100 block of Washington where they found the victim.
Police said the man and his friends were not from the area and were driving around looking for help.
The victim told police they were driving around downtown when they were flagged down by two people on Leonor K. Sullivan. When the victim and his friends pulled over, one of the suspects struck the victim in the face with a handgun and demanded his property. The armed suspect then began firing into the vehicle.
The victim's two friends were not wounded.
