DESOTO, Mo. (KSDK) - The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged a 25-year-old Desoto man Tuesday for allegedly downloading child pornography in the Jefferson County Library.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff Oliver "Glenn" Boyer, detectives with the sheriff's office took Johnnie Lewis into custody on Monday, January 28 at 5:10 p.m.
Authorities had been investigating the discovery of images containing child porn in a men's restroom at Jefferson College Library for the last several weeks.
Boyer said detectives monitored surveillance video showing Johnnie Lewis in the computer lab at Jefferson College Library on January 28, and observed him download images and bring them to the restroom. Detectives detained Lewis and found the images of child pornography in the trash.
Lewis admitted to downloading child porn from a computer terminal at the Jefferson College Library on at least four occasions, Sheriff Boyer said.
A spokesman for Jefferson College said earlier reports of Lewis' involvement in the college's GED program were erroneous. Lewis is not enrolled at Jefferson College.
Johnnie Lewis was charged with one count of possession of child pornography and is being held without bond at Jefferson County Jail.
