ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KSDK) - MoDOT construction is expected to cause traffic delays on I-64 beginning Friday, February 1 and continuing through the fall.
I-64 will be closed beginning this Friday at 8 p.m. until Monday, February 4 at 3 a.m. Crews will then narrow the lanes and shift traffic to the middle of the interstate between Kingshighway and Vandeventer.
In addition, the Vandeventer Avenue ramp to the westbound I-64 is expected to remain closed until fall 2013.
Three lanes will be open in each direction on I-64 between the hours of 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays. During the overnight period and weekends, the Missouri Department of Transportation will close two of the three lanes for construction.
"We expect to have some congestion in this area," said Deanna Venker, MoDOT area engineer for St. Louis City. She advised long distance commuters to consider using I-44 or I-70 as a detour around the construction.
Work is expected to continue until July 2014.
